Brookside Cemetery

Just as important as choosing the funeral home to serve your family is choosing the cemetery that will serve as the final resting place for your loved one. A cemetery is a place for your loved one to rest and serves as a place to bring your family together to remember them. Neil Bardal Funeral Centre is proud to work with all of the cemeteries in and surrounding Winnipeg.

Brookside Cemetery and Field of Honour is a beautiful location that is situated directly across the street from our funeral home. Many people do not consider the proximity of the funeral home and cemetery when planning a service. Having a cemetery located so closely to our funeral home offers numerous benefits and unique service options to your family.

Unique Services and Benefits

The first and most important benefit, is the easy procession from the funeral service to the graveside for internment. With large processionals, it can be difficult to get everyone from the funeral home to the gravesite quickly and safely. Brookside Cemetery is directly across the street from Neil Bardal Funeral Centre meaning no one gets lost when travelling to the gravesite for internment's.

Having a cemetery so close also offers a unique option of walking to the gravesite. After the funeral service, family and friends can walk together opposed to driving. Walking offers everyone the chance to get some fresh air, share memories of the deceased, and reflect on the life of their loved one together. When planning a service, arranging a cemetery plot can be time consuming. Many people want to see the plot before they purchase it. By having a cemetery across the street, you are able to conveniently go over after the funeral service has been arranged. Because of our location, we frequently work with the staff at Brookside Cemetery and are happy to help introduce you and work alongside them to ensure we give your loved one a proper burial.

Brookside Cemetery and Field of Honour

Brookside Cemetery is traditional mature treed park and one of the oldest cemeteries in Winnipeg. It has served as the final resting place of politicians, statesman, noted athletes, decorated veterans, and people from all walks of life. It offers options for both traditional in-ground and cremated remains internments.

In addition to the cemetery is the field of honour available for military personnel. The cemetery is home to one of the oldest and largest municipal military field of honours in Canada. Since 1915, more than 12,000 veterans, service men, service women, and their families have been buried at Brookside Cemetery.

The staff at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre recommend Brookside Cemetery as our first choice when arranging services with families. If you are interested in arranging a burial here, our staff is happy to work with you to help arrange every detail of your service.
