The contents of this policy are intended to meet the requirements of Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Manitoba Regulation 171/2015 under the Accessibility for Manitobans Act. which applies to the services provided by this funeral home.
This policy applies to all employees (management, full-time and part-time) of Neil Bardal Funeral Centre of 3030 Notre Dame Ave. Winnipeg Manitoba R3B 1B9.
This policy also applies to services provided by this funeral home at other locations such as churches and other venues as requested by the families we serve.
When providing our services at other locations our staff will cooperate fully with the policies set out by that church or venue.
Neil Bardal Funeral Centre is committed to serving all people including all people with disabilities with dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity.
The Accessibility Standard for Customer Service
We meet communication needs by offering to communicate in different ways, such as having a pen and pad available to write down a request, reading out loud and taking the extra time required to explain things.
We accommodate the use of assistive devices, such as wheelchairs and communication or hearing devices that persons may bring into our funeral home. We also have a wheel chair available for any one that has a requirement. Every effort will be made to accommodate these devices.
All persons that are accompanied by a support person will be seated together. Our staff will ensure that any special requests or needs are looked after.
All persons that are accompanied by a service animal will be allowed access to our funeral home. The person with a disability will be responsible for the care and control of the service animal at all times. The service animal is not allowed in the kitchen area.
In the event of a health and safety concern such as allergies to the animal occurs every effort will be made to accommodate the persons involved.
Maintain Accessibility Areas:
Keep hallways and meeting areas clear of all clutter.
Keep the entrance way clear of snow and ice, staff will be onsite to assist all persons entering and exiting the building.
Space for mobility devices will be provided.
Maintain all automatic door devices in serviceable condition; in the event of a malfunction staff will be available to assist with the door(s).
Accessibility Features Temporarily Unavailable:
In the event an accessibility feature is temporarily unavailable we will put up signage or post online. We will include information on how long the feature will be unavailable. Every effort will be made to have staff available to assist if possible.
We welcome and respond promptly to all feedback reported to this funeral home by means of online, telephone, written, verbally or email.
All feedbacks and actions taken are documented and are available upon request.
We provide the required training on accessible customer service to
management and employees (full-time and part-time).
We maintain a documented copy of our training procedure on file
and include records for each employee and when the training took place. These documents are available to the public on request.
This policy and related procedures will be amended as required in the event of legislative changes.
